Delfin

Size: 100g
Description

Delfin® WG is a highly effective biological insecticide designed to control and suppress a wide range of lepidopteran pests. Formulated with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki strain SA-11, this OMRI-listed bio-larvicide offers a natural, non-toxic solution for pest management in various crops, including lettuce, tomatoes, citrus, maize, and many more. Delfin® WG is a vital tool in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs and offers a sustainable approach to pest control with no harmful residues.

Features

• Broad-Spectrum Control: Delfin® WG targets a variety of lepidopteran pests, including African bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera), armyworm (Spodoptera spp.), cabbage looper (Trichoplusia ni), and other caterpillar pests in vegetables, cereals, and citrus.

• Unique Mode of Action: The active ingredient, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), produces Cry toxins, which are ingested by the larvae. These toxins disrupt the insect’s midgut, causing them to stop feeding and eventually die. This makes Delfin® WG a powerful, target-specific insecticide.

• Safe for Non-Target Organisms: Delfin® WG is highly specific to lepidopteran larvae, posing no risk to beneficial insects, pollinators, or other non-target species. This makes it an excellent choice for preserving biodiversity and promoting ecological balance.

• Versatile Application: Delfin® WG can be applied across a wide range of environments and crops, from field crops like maize and wheat to horticultural crops like tomatoes, peppers, and citrus.

• Resistance Management: As a biological product with a distinct mode of action, Delfin® WG plays a critical role in resistance management, especially when integrated with chemical pesticides.

• Organic Farming: Delfin® WG is OMRI-listed and can be safely used in organic farming practices. It has no withholding period, making it suitable for use up to harvest.

How it Works

Delfin® WG works by utilizing Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies kurstaki strain SA-11, which produces unique crystalline proteins (Cry toxins). These proteins are toxic to the alkaline gut of lepidopteran larvae, causing gut paralysis, osmotic shock, and eventual death. This bio-larvicide is ingested by pest larvae while feeding on treated foliage, and the toxin rapidly disrupts their digestive system, effectively stopping their damage to crops.

Application

• Dosage: Apply Delfin® WG at a general rate of 1 kg/ha.

• Application Timing: Apply Delfin® WG with the detection of pest eggs and continue treatments every 7–10 days, depending on pest pressure.

• Specific Crops and Pests:

         • Lettuce (African Bollworm): Apply 1 kg/ha.

         • Citrus (Citrus Flower Moth / Lemon Borer): Apply 250–500 g/ha.

         • Tomato (Tuta absoluta): Apply as a full cover spray every 7–14 days based on pest pressure.

• Coverage: Ensure full coverage of feeding areas for effective pest control.

Proven Efficacy

1. African Bollworm on Lettuce: In trials, Delfin® WG achieved significant reductions in bollworm populations, comparable to chemical standards, with consistent results over multiple applications.

2. Citrus Flower Moth Control on Citrus: Trials on Eureka lemons demonstrated that Delfin® WG significantly reduced fruit damage caused by citrus flower moth larvae, achieving results superior to alternative Bt formulations.

Sizes

Delfin® WG is available in 100 g, 1 kg, and 30 kg packs, offering flexibility for both small-scale and large-scale applications.
